Case Study of NBB’s Initiatives

In July 2021, NBB closed operating lease transactions utilizing Enhanced Equipment Trust Certificates (“EETC”) with British Airways (“BA”), which involved 7 aircraft, including one Airbus A350, three Boeing B787-10, and three Airbus A320neo aircraft. One of the unique features of these transactions is that BA has incorporated an “ESG clause”, whereby BA is incentivized and committed to maintain a certain emission target throughout the life of the lease period for each aircraft. BA has been an industry leader in ESG efforts and is the first airline that has committed to achieving carbon-zero emission by 2050. We believe that NBB’s involvement in this deal with BA will not only contribute to reduce environmental impact but will also support its SDGs by providing ESG financing for fuel-efficient and “state-of-the-art”products, and we are very proud to be involved in these transactions in association with BA.
